Tennessee Whiskey
Similar to bourbon with an additional charcoal mellowing step (Lincoln County Process) prior to aging. Must be made in Tennessee, from a grain mash (often ≥51% corn), aged in new charred oak, and bottled ≥40% ABV.
Style Factors
- Maple charcoal filtration softens spirit and can add a subtle sweetness/smokiness.
- Mashbills mirror bourbon (corn with rye or wheat, plus malted barley).
Flavor & Use
- Range: caramel, banana bread/estery notes, vanilla, gentle oak.
- Cocktails: Lynchburg Lemonade, Whiskey Sour, Highball.
